"We took on the services of Matar to look into our practice functioning after having had an Inadequate inspection report on two areas, Safe and Well led. The practice felt that it had done what was expected, but during the inspection areas where improvement was required came to light. We accepted the need to make changes to improve the way we ensure the safety of our patients and staff and also to ensure strong leadership within the team.We recognised the need for an outside evaluation on our protocols and procedures. The practice was not seeking merely to achieve a good standing with the CQC, we wanted to improve to ensure that there were robust systems in place for patient safety and that all involved in the team had accountability. We approached Matar, who looked at the two core areas where an inadequate rating was given (Safe and Well Led). Using methodical, practical procedures and tools, we were taken through all the requirements in these domains and notes were made on how our systems needed updating or changing. We had two very intense days of working through these changes with the full support of Matar’s expert. The expert was on hand to provide guidance and relevant explanation for the changes that were needed. All the changes that were made were checked by the expert with the relevant staff member, all the while fostering a sense of responsibility in the team members for the tasks they were completing. We have continued to implement the systems put in place as a result of the consultation with Matar. We have since had an inspection as a follow-up due to the inadequate rating we were given. The CQC inspector was very happy with the positive change the practice had made and felt all the necessary changes (immediate and long term) had been implemented very swiftly. We will continue to use the services for Matar Ltd, for the continuous improvement of our services. We would highly recommend the company."
"The expert/Krishan came to our Practice with the impossible task of preparing us for a CQC visit within a week. His approach was methodical and very focused on the important things. He brought the team together and everyone had a clear idea of their roles and responsibilities. By the end of the week he helped us to produce a folder for a full visit. This meant that on the day, all members of the team were able to answer the questions in their area of expertise. We passed the visit with greens across all domains.I would have no hesitation in recommending Matar to other practices who wish to learn the art of passing CQC."
“The expert helped us with preparing for our CQC visit. He helped us over a span of several weeks and was very professional and forthcoming with advice. He identified problems that we had not realised were there and showed us how to tackle them.He was consistent and motivating and didn’t hold back telling us when he felt progress was not happening as it should be. He set us weekly tasks and goals which we were to achieve by his next visit. With the expert’s help, we achieved a ‘Good’ rating with an area of Outstanding practice, where previously it had been ‘Requires Improvement’.”
“CQC is always changing what it wants from practices. The regulations tighten in some areas and loosen in others, and it is difficult to keep up with it all on their website. What we found exceptionally helpful was that the expert was on the ball and knew all of the regulations. We prefer to have a detailed pre-inspection visit by an expert who is able to focus on our areas of development, than wait for inspection day to find out.We look forward to the expert coming back and re-visiting us soon, so we can have an objective way of staying on top form!”
